Eggnog Logs

These sound really great! The recipe can be simplified by using your favorite flavor of canned icing & then dipping into the nuts. Did you know that spices like Nutmeg expire? This can affect the taste of your cookies. To check if yours are fresh, check the bottle/can for an expiration date. If you can't find it on your bottle/can you might like to go to McCormick's web page. They have a tutorial and information on the freshness of their spices. You'll also find MORE recipes using their products. Click on the nutmeg bottle below for a direct link to check the age of your nutmeg.

Macadamia-Oat Snow Balls

I've always loved the look of snowball cookies on a cookie tray. The white confectioner's sugar is an invitation to taste the flavors hidden under its cover. When I saw this photo of snowballs, I couldn't resist including it here. Discover 10 Top Cookie Baking Secrets & 10 more recipes from my recipes dot com by clicking the photo.

Pralines & Cinnamon Pecans

Slightly different from Candied Pecans, Pralines & Cinnamon Pecans were sometimes found on Memere's Holiday Tray Master List. The yummy picture below is from the Food Network. Click on the photo & find their praise-worthy Praline Recipe.

The Cream Pralines recipe below was found in one of Memere's vintage (1951) Candy Books. It seems surprisingly similar to her partial Candied Pecans recipe. Also shown, is her favorite Cinnamon Pecans recipe.

Candied Pecans

Memère’s Master List of Goodies, for Christmas gift giving, was the very first post on this blog. All recipe posts so far have been following this list. Imagine my surprise when the only hand-written recipe for Candied Pecans was the one below. I believe that there was more to it than Memère wrote down. Perhaps someone else in the family has the remainder of this recipe.

Rocky Road Candy

I remember Memere making this fudge since I was a kid. It is my all time favorite! It has a unique consistancy when it is made properly. Timing is everything. Be sure to test accurately for soft ball stage.

The recipe is believed to be an original “Off-The-Jar” Fluff recipe from the 50's or 60's, but it can’t be found on their site. Click here if you would like to see all of Fluff’s best recipes on line.
